TFIA is committed to promoting ethical labour conditions, environmental protection, water and energy conservation and the safe use of chemicals in textiles and clothing.
Sustainability is best defined as a form of progress that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. Sustainable practice in simple terms means looking after workers, using quality materials, minimising waste and making fair margins. Call it lean, competitive, frontline or blue ocean - there is no substitute for good management.
TFIA has backed its commitment by actively participating as a Committee Member of Ethical Clothing Australia which promotes equitable working conditions for all. TFIA is currently lobbying for an ethical quality mark for the TCF industry that would rate businesses on their environmental as well as their labour practices.
