Polyester is the name of the fibre extruded from polyethylene terephthalate (PET), a widely used synthetic fibre traditionally used in clothing and bedding.
Most of the polyester we use has been recycled from various sources such as plastic bags and packaging.

Polyester does not “leach” any chemicals and is food safe. The polyester fibre used in insulation is the same as that found in clothing and bedding.

Polyester is also used extensively in medical applications due to its safe nature.

Polyester fibres do not contain nor produce any ozone depleting substances or gases. They are also odourless and contain negligible volatile organic chemicals (VOCs).

Polyester is classified as “no more toxic than wood”. Its thermal insulation performance has been proven in Polar Fleece® and similar clothing during expeditions to the coldest places on earth.

Insulation that is thermally bonded continues to loft over time, unlike other forms of insulation that use chemical binders that can break down over time, resulting in a loss of performance.

It’s also fire safe – Polyester insulation exceeds the requirements of the Building Code of Australia, as tested in compliance with AS1530 P3.

Polyester insulation is incredibly easy to install.

No protective clothing or equipment is required and it comes in widths to suit over 90% of all standard house framing. Small pieces don’t need to be cut as GreenStuf will easily rip in a straight line across the Batt.

Finally, Polyester is resistant to attack by insects, vermin and other pests and is unaffected by moisture. There are no health concerns associated with polyester fibre: they are non-irritant, non-toxic and non-allergenic.

There is no need to use protective clothing during installation and your family’s ongoing health will not be compromised.
