The Council of Textile & Fashion Industries of Australia (TFIA) has been successfully representing Textile, Clothing and Footwear (TCF) industries since the 1940s.

TFIA is focused on workplace learning in highly specialised and advanced technology areas to deliver flexible, formal and customised solutions for managers, workers and professional educators.

Through TFIA, Australian firms have access to the latest market intelligence - both at a national and international level.

TFIA began when the Textile Council of Australia was formed as an umbrella organisation to provide a focal point for a number of sector-specific associations.

TFIA engages in many activities on behalf of its members and the wider TCF industry.

Over the years, TFIA has devoted a lot of resources to lobbying Government for TCF funding and support programs.

TFIA plays a number of important roles in advocating the need for quality standards in the TCF industry.

As highlighted in the 2008 TCF Review by Professor Roy Green, the survival of the TCF industry is reliant on businesses being innovative - both in new technologies and business models.

Australian & international TCF conferences

TFIA supports innovative research and development in the TCF industry through the ISS Institute Fellowship program.

From big business to small and medium enterprises, from senior executive to junior employee, from teacher to student... all are welcome as members of the TFIA

TFIA is a national body governed by a Board and Executive elected from the TFIA membership and administered from a head office based in Melbourne. The TFIA Executive meets a minimum four times a year to discuss issues facing the industry.

The TFIA President is Mr Michel Abeysekera, CEO of LM Australasia Pty Ltd.

The TFIA Chief Executive Officer is Ms Jo-Ann Kellock.
